Service Highlights

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The first three months of the year Altrusa International of Centre County has been extremely busy. Our most recent service project was on March 31st when we had our annual Easter Egg
Hunt at Park Forest Preschool. The Park Forest Preschool is a nonprofit, state-licensed program that provides 100% scholarship-funded, high quality preschool programming for low income, qualifying families in Centre County. Our Head Bunny (Phyllis Corman) and her bunny minions had a great time hiding eggs for the children. The eggs contained little toys, and each child received a book.

Mid-Year Madness

Our first service projects of the year were our Mid-Year Madness School Supplies and our Elementary Book Drive. This year we expanded our community involvement, and it showed! We were able to give supplies and books to three schools: Bellefonte Elementary, Wingate Elementary and Liberty Curtin Elementary. All three schools have
high poverty rates and low literary rates.

Ban Dusty Books

Earlier in March the club did our annual Ban Dusty Books at the Bellefonte Library. We worked with the Friends of the Bellefonte Library and cleaned all of the toys and dusted all of the books and shelves.

YMCA Anti-Hunger Program

Many of our members have been helping with the YMCA Anti-Hunger program since September. Some have volunteered to fill backpacks that are sent weekly to all schools for those children who qualify. Others have helped with the weekly food distribution.

WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR ENERGETIC, SERVICE-MINDED PEOPLE TO JOIN ALTRUSA.

Contact our Club President to arrange a no-obligation visit.
