2026 Mid-Year Madness School Supply and Book Drive
Celebrating the new year does not usually bring up thoughts of back-to-school shopping, but as the school year progresses, all those pencils, crayons, and notebooks that flooded the halls in August have started to dry up. Altrusa International of Centre County is looking to provide a much-needed infusion of supplies to three local elementary schools. This year school supplies will be donated to Wingate Elementary in Wingate and Liberty- Curtin Elementary near Beech Creek. Altrusa will also be donating books and funds to purchase literacy tools for Bellefonte and Wingate Elementary.
There will be multiple donation sites across the community starting January 5th. Two of the sites will be in Bellefonte at the Centre County Library, at 200 N Allegheny Street and Shaky Hands Coffee Shop at 106 W Bishop Street. Please contact Altrusa at altrusacentreco@gmail.com if you are interested in hosting a donation site, would like to know where to donate, or would like to arrange a pickup of school supplies. The donation sites will be available through January 26th. If you do not have time to go shopping, Altrusa will also be accepting monetary donations. The money will be used to purchase additional school supplies or donated directly to the schools so that they can buy materials to advance their literacy goals. Monetary donations can be mailed to 210 W Hamilton Ave, #171, State College, PA 16801.
